Hi my name is Alexis McChorn, I was born and raised in Hot
Springs, Arkansas, but later moved to Crossett, Arkansas at the age of nine. I am the 8th child out of nine children. I
graduated from Crossett High School in May of 2013. I started studying at
Henderson State University in August 2013, where my major was Human Service.
Growing up I always wanted to become a social worker, because of my own experiences
I had as a child. I grew up in the home with my aunt and her children after my mother passed away from a car crash.. So, after finding out the Henderson no longer has a major for
Social Work, I changed my major to Early Childhood Education, so that I could
become an elementary school teacher. I’ve always had a passion for teaching and
growing up in a household with two teachers just made that passion stronger. I
know that education is the key to success, so it would give me great honor by
helping students achieve their goals, especially at a young age. Growing up I
have always had a strong place in my heart for music. I started singing in my
church choir at the age of 6, and soon became the lead singer for my choir at
Hunters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in West Crossett, Arkansas, by the
time I graduated high school. Music is a gateway for me to express how I feel,
and it also brings me closer to the Lord. This blog is basically about the
world of music that we live in and it is everywhere. I will discuss different types
of music, because I enjoy different kinds of music, and my opinion on what the
artist was trying to say through his or her music. To me music comes from the
heart and is how that artist is feeling at that moment in time. Music is
everywhere, whether you are standing on an elevator, walking around the mall, or
even eating in some restaurants, so I know that without music this world would
be a different place.
